Two women have been arrested and charged in the Saturday morning stabbing death of a man who police said was apparently tried to break up their argument.

According to police, Ronis Garcia, 28, of Norwalk, Conn. was found with a stab wound to the chest around 7:20 a.m. Saturday inside 855 Bryant Avenue, an apartment building in the Hunts Point section of Bronx.

Garcia was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Police later arrested Nereline Santana, 21, of Bronx and Carmen Puerto-Cruz of Longview, Texas.

Santana has been charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Puerto-Cruz has been charged with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Police said Garcia tried to intervene and separate the women who were involved in a verbal argument, according to the New York Post. They then apparently turned on him, according to the paper.

“It looks like he was trying to be a good Samaritan, and this is what he got for trying to help,” police told the media.

Police said the women’s relationship to Garcia is still unknown.
