A bulldozer operator made a grisly discovery as he worked at a Bronx waste transfer station early Tuesday — a dismembered corpse missing a head, arms and one leg that someone had thrown in the trash.

Horrified witnesses called police to the Metropolitan Transfer Station on Halleck St. in Hunts Point upon the discovery of the body about 4:45 a.m.

It was not yet clear how the woman died, though her death is believed to have occurred recently, police sources said.

“It’s weird. I’ve been working here for 10 years — nothing has happened like this before,” said one worker who would only give her name as Kay.

She said the worker who first spotted the body had gone home for the day.

At 11:00 a.m. cops started began sorting through trash using police dogs.

Six NYPD trucks and dozens of detectives were at work around the transfer station, which is owned by a private waste removal company not affiliated with the city’s Department of Sanitation.

An autopsy is scheduled to identify the woman and determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents are asked to call the NYPD‘s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1800577TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 188857PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers’ website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

All tips will be kept strictly confidential.
