A poultry company from Virginia is recalling more than 3,000 pounds of ice-packed chicken over contamination concerns.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says New Market Poultry accidentally shipped the bad chicken to six distribution centers in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Farmingdale, NY.
The boxes had a case code of 05412 and establishment number P-4602A inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The Agriculture Department says the chicken was marked and should not have been sent out.
The company says 90 percent of the contaminated chicken was contained, and that it is trying to locate 396 birds.
The contaminated product is described as a “heavy foul,” which is more of a specialty item.
