Today marks the final edition of the NYPD Daily Coronavirus Report. We began issuing coronavirus-related notices on a daily basis as the CoViD-19 impact on the Department and the city soared.
We will continue to release coronavirus-related notices and statistics from time to time. Citywide NYPD sick report numbers have approached normal levels.
Sick Report Daily Update
On Friday, May 29, 2020, 901 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 2.50% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 5,740 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.
As of today, Friday, May 29, 2020, 5,627 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 57 uniformed members plus 13 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus.
Let us remember and pray for the 43 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.
Citywide Patrols
Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.
Between 08:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2020:
- NYPD officers visited 2,775 supermarkets and pharmacies of which 1,259 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 6,511 bars and restaurants of which 5,160 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 1,189 public spaces of which 703 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 2,591 personal care facilities of which 2,591 were closed.
Social Distancing Enforcement
On May 28, 2020, two summonses were issued in regard to social distancing enforcement.
