Death in the Family
We are saddened to inform you that complications of the coronavirus have claimed two additional members of our Transportation Bureau, both in the past 24 hours.
Principal Administrative Associate Josephine Hill dedicated 33 years to the NYPD, the last 19 assigned to the Manhattan Tow Pound Unit.
Associate Traffic Enforcement Agent Mohammad Ahsan served 15 years with the police department, most recently assigned to the Bronx Traffic Enforcement Unit.
As we continue to navigate this crisis together as one NYPD family, we send our prayers and deepest sympathies to all of Josephine’s and Mohammad’s loved ones, and we vow to never forget any of our fallen colleagues.
Sick Report Daily Update
On Sunday, April 26, 2020, 3,166 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 8.80% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 4,837 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.
As of today, Sunday, April 26, 2020, 3,530 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 953 uniformed members plus 317 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus. And let us remember and pray for the 37 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.
Citywide Patrols
Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.
Between 08:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Sunday, April 26, 2020:
- NYPD officers visited 3,110 supermarkets and pharmacies 1,289 of which were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 6,883 bars and restaurants 5,476 of which were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 1,186 public places of 797 which were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 3,008 personal care facilities of 3,008 which were closed.
There were no arrests or summonses issued in regard to these visits.
