Death in the Family
It is with sadness that the New York City Police Department announces the death of two members of our family.
Auxiliary Police Officer Roger Muscadi, assigned to the 63rd Precinct Auxiliary Unit, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, from complications related to the coronavirus.
Auxiliary Police Officer Muscadi became a member of the NYPD on June 30, 1999.
City Custodial Assistant Cheryl Johnson, assigned to Facilities Maintenance Section, passed away today, April 25, 2020, from complications related to coronavirus.
Custodial Assistant Cheryl Johnson became a member of the NYPD on May 23, 2013.
Sick Report Daily Update
On Saturday, April 25, 2020, 3,554 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 9.80% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 4,820 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.
As of today, Saturday, April 25, 2020, 3,363 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 1,098 uniformed members plus 325 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus. And let us remember and pray for the 35 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.
Citywide Patrols
Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.
Between 08:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020:
- NYPD officers visited 2,878 supermarkets and pharmacies of which 944 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 6,910 bars and restaurants of which 5,268 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 1,112 public places of which 786 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 2,858 personal care facilities of which 2,858 were closed.
There were no arrests or summonses issued in regard to these visits.
