Death in the Family
It is with sadness that the New York City Police Department announces the death of a member of our family.
City Custodial Assistant Deidre Edwards, who was assigned to the NYPD’s Facility Maintenance Section, died on Monday, April 06, 2020, from complications associated with coronavirus. City Custodial Assistant Edwards became a member of the NYPD on August 26, 2005.
Citywide Patrols
Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing
Between 08:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 07, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 08, 2020:
- NYPD officers visited 2,748 supermarkets of which 1,448 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 7,188 bars and restaurants of which 5,746 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 1,150 public places of which 756 were closed.
- NYPD officers visited 3,258 personal care facilities of which 3,258 were closed.
There were no arrests made in regard to these visits.
One summons was issued in the 76th Precinct in regard to a violation of the Mayor’s Exectuive Order. The respondent was issued a summons for serving patrons alcohol and allowing them to drink in front of the location.
NYPD Officers on Sick Report
On Wednesday, April 08, 2020, 7,130 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 19.70% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. Currently, 2,103 uniformed members and 373 civilian members tested positive for the coronavirus.
