Two boys have been arrested on rape and other charges after allegedly sexually assaulting two girls in a Bronx school auditorium during school hours, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the case.

The source said the two suspects, ages 13 and 14, knew the girls and allegedly brought them to the auditorium of JHS 145 in Claremont between noon and 2:15 p.m. October 16, 2014.

The girls are 12 and 13 years old.

The 13-year-old boy is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act. The 14-year-old boy faces charges of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act.

New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina said in a statement Thursday that she is “deeply disturbed and saddened” by the allegations.

“My thoughts are with the students and families affected by this horrible incident,” Farina said. “As a mother and grandmother, I treat every student as my own and every school must be a safe haven.”

Farina said additional counselors and support would be sent to the school.
