The Periodic Table of Elements – online!

One of Mendeleev's tables.

Dmitri Mendeleev in 1897.

How I wish I was in my 7th grade today, not 18 years ago.. And, yes, I am 31!

Michael Dayah has put together an interactive Periodic Table of Elements online. The interface is nothing short from an onile mirracle, which deserves my personal admiration for design, functionality and content. While the site has been up since 1997, I just discovered it today.

Michael Dayah’s online Periodic Table of Elements could be found here.

To give credit and pay tribut where needed, Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev (1834 – 1907), was the Russian chemist and inventor who is credited as being the creator of the first version of the periodic table of elements. Using the table, he predicted the properties of elements yet to be discovered.

In 1893, Mendeleev was appointed Director of the Bureau of Weights and Measures. It was in this role that he was directed to formulate new state standards for the production of vodka. As a result of his work, in 1894 new standards for vodka were introduced into Russian law and all vodka had to be produced at 40% alcohol by volume.
