The 53rd Season of the Bronx Opera is about to take flight with the staging in January of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Don Giovanni“. This exciting opera will keep you on the edge of your seat as you walk through the lives and loves portrayed in this masterpiece.
The setting is not in Spain, but in New Jersey, with the “wise guys” of the Soprano’s, the intrigue, the mystery, the backstabbing… and all the drama is all played out in this stunning production, all with the backdrop of Mozart’s extraordinary music and we are drawn in by story lines right out of the current times.
Directed by Rod Gomez, the cast brings the story to life and are taken on a musical journey of discovery.
The Bronx Opera always brings exciting themes to their productions, stories that are told in new ways, and you realize that opera is another way to express great drama set to unforgettable music.
Conductor Michael Spierman will be leading the Bronx Opera Orchestra, as he has done for the last 52 years. His immense knowledge of the music and the styling of Mozart, brings that needed foundation for the Opera.
Over 50 singers who have worked with the Bronx Opera have gone on to sing with the Metropolitan Opera, so this is your chance to see and hear them for only $30 mezzanine seating and $40 orchestra seating.
The lights go up on Saturday evening, January 11, 2020, at 07:30 p.m., with performances following on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at 02:30 p.m.; Friday, January 17, 2020, at 07:30 p.m., and Saturday afternoon, January 18, 2020, at 02:30 p.m.
