Our borough has been especially affected by the CoViD-19 pandemic, with the highest per-case fatality rate in NYC.

As an institution that provides educational resources to thousands of people annually, the Bronx Museum Of The Arts is committed to helping our community during this uncertain time.

Food & Meal Resources

Free meals are being offered at select locations for all New Yorkers by Chefs for America and the Department of Education, text NYC FOOD or NYC COMIDA to 877-877 to learn more.

One week of free groceries are available to all New Yorkers in five boroughs at the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) Nutrition Kitchens, find a location close to you.

Visit Invisible Hands Deliver to have groceries delivered straight to you by volunteers from communities at the least risk for severe CoViD-19 reactions.

Find a food bank through NYC FoodHelp or search Soup Kitchens & Food Pantries by Borough. Additionally, the New York Common Panty offers fresh, culturally appropriate and nutritious food free through the Choice Pantry Program in the Bronx.

Apply for the food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Search nycfoodpolicy.org and the Bronx Community Health Food Resource Guide for comprehensive food resource guides to your area. Each guide is updated once a week and includes free meal distribution sites, meals for seniors, meal delivery options, and more.  

Health & Wellness Resourcess

For CoViD-19 testing information, call  NYC Health + Hospitals at 1-844-NYC-4-NYC.

General information on CoViD-19 can be accessed on the CDC’s CoViD-19 website or by calling 1-888-364-3065.

Apply for health coverage through NY State of Health. Enrollment has been extended to May 15, 2020 due to the coronavirus and existing members can defer payment to June 01, 2020.

New York State Emotional Health provides free mental health counseling. Call the hotline 1-844-863-9314 to schedule a free appointment.

US Department of Health Disaster Distress offers immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress. Call 1-800-985-5990, or text TalkWithUs to 66746.

Don’t neglect your safety while in quarantine. If you are the victim of domestic or gender-based violence, seek help through NYC Hope or contact the National Domestic Violence Helpline 1-800-799-7233 or text LOVIS to 22522.

Meditate with Headspace. A series of free meditation guides for New Yorkers dealing with stress due to the coronavirus are available on their website.

The City of New York has developed a website specifically for New Yorkers with Disabilities during CoViD-19 with information on food supply and delivery, Social Security / Medicaid Benefits, Home Healthcare Services and more

Relief Programs, Small Busineass Resources & Consumer Protection

Are you looking for the status of your CoViD-19 Economic Impact Payment or need to enter your direct deposit information to receive your funds, visit the IRS website for more information.

To help students stay connected during emergencies, the DOE is lending internet-enabled iPads to support remote learning for students. If you would like to request a device for a NYC student in your family, please visit the DOE.

If you are a small business owner in NYC affected by CoViD-19, visit the New York City Small Business Services website or call 311 for info on grants, updates & more. Additional assistance is also available through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Do you feel that you have been overcharged due to the coronavirus? Use the 311 online portal to report your experience with price gouging during an emergency.

Donate to the Bronx Community Relief Effort, an initiative focused on meeting the most essential needs of the Bronx community by filling gaps unmet through public financing and broader grant programs.

Order no-contact delivery from your favorite local restaurants. Some restaurants in the Bronx Museum area still delivering include G Bar / Giovanni’s Pizza ShopHungry Bird Indian RestaurantLa Morada (Oaxacan specialties), Yankee Tavern, and The Eating Tree (homestyle Jamaican dishes). In addition, the Vietnamese restaurant Cơm Tấm Ninh Kiều in Kingsbridge remains open for pick-up and delivery.

Bronx born DJ D-Nice has been releasing a wide range of online content for people who are socially distancing during CoViD-19. The content included a DJ set dubbed Club Quarantine on Instagram live, an Instagram Live party with Michelle Obama to encourage viewers to register to vote, and a curated “DJ D-Nice’s Homeschool” Spotify playlist with essential jams for home parties.
