Former NBC Nightly News star anchor Tom Brokaw and his wife walked away unharmed after they were involved in a fatal car accident in Bronx Friday afternoon.
According to a statement released by Brokaw himself, he and his wife, Meredith, were involved in a three-car accident on the Bruckner Expressway. Brokaw says he and his wife were in the far left lane when they saw a spool of cable bouncing around in the far right lane. A green SUV in that lane tried to avoid the cable but the driver lost control of the car and went into the middle lane. The SUV then forced an USPS mail truck into the Brokaws’ lane of traffic. Brokaw says he then slid into the median after the mail truck.
In the statement, Brokaw said he and his wife were “greatly saddened” by the loss of the driver of the SUV, who was thrown from her vehicle and killed.
