A 15-year-old girl was shot outside an apartment building in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx. According to police reports, the girl was shot in the stomach outside Walton Avenue and East 177th Street shortly after 8:45 p.m. Monday night.

She apparently made it to a nearby apartment building at 55 Mount Hope Place, where she was met by emergency workers. The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police say the gunman fled the scene and no arrests were immediately made.

Detectives were looking into whether the victim was the intended target. They were interviewing people who were outside at the time of the shooting, who may have been the targets of the gunfire. Those people were not cooperating with the investigation.
