Sobo & Sobo, LLP, the leading personal injury firm in the greater Hudson Valley, is pleased to announce their annual scholarship essay contest. The opportunity for high school seniors begins September 15, 2019 and ends January 31, 2020.
To help students take a deeper look at their place in this world while helping them pay for a college education, Sobo & Sobo is awarding a total of $7,500 to students in the region. Each student entering the scholarship contest must complete an essay about the implications of technology on personal injury.
The question, open-ended by design, allows students to express their thoughts, based on their own individual academic and cultural experiences. The contest also gives students the opportunity to offset the cost of their educations.
“We are honored to announce this scholarship which highlights the significant impact of technology on all our lives. In addition to the much discussed social and personal impacts of technology on risk and safety, there are significant legal ones as well,” says Greg Sobo, managing partner of Sobo & Sobo. The goal is for students to seriously consider technology and the unintended impact it has on them.
Sobo goes on to say, “Awards will be based on the merit of the essay alone. We believe this contest, this topic, will give students a reason to ponder one important part of their lives in a way they may not have otherwise.”
One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to the contestant with the most impactful essay, the runner up will receive $1,000, three third place contestants will receive $500 stipends. Applications for the 2019-2020 Sobo & Sobo Scholarship competition are now available here. The contest concludes, and all applications must be received by, the close of business January 31, 2020. Winners will be announced by March 31, 2020.
