A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office spoke last week to members of the Rain East Tremont Senior Center about consumer fraud issues as part of Cuomo’s statewide Smart Seniors Program.
The presentation, given by Senior Consumer Frauds Representative Joel Balavram from Cuomo’s Harlem Office, discussed how to best avoid consumer scams that frequently target seniors, such as sweepstakes, mail orders, and identity theft.
Council Members Jimmy Vacca and Annabel Palma attended the presentation as well.
This event was part of Cuomo’s broader statewide outreach efforts to promote consumer awareness. For more information about the work that Cuomo’s office is doing to promote knowledge about these issues, please visit the Attorney General’s website at http://www.oag.state.ny.us.
