Life was the same on September 10
Sunlight in the city like any other day
Things would change in the world of men
Soon to see the horrors of a darker way

A new day started on September 11
With hopes and dreams in the morning air
But hatred made planes fall from heaven
Then all we could do was to pause and stare

The world now resigned to this cruel fate
A call to action for things to come
We will never forget that awful date
A day of reckoning coming for some

The veneer of civility stripped from our eyes
By the rot of some others envy and hate
The day we saw the blood stained skies
A day our hearts bore such a heavy weight
