Not all Bronx residents are happy after a Saks OFF 5th department store is slated to open at the former Barnes & Noble in Bay Plaza.
The store’s grand opening is scheduled for tomorrow but some residents say they will not be shopping at the high-end department store because they cannot afford to.
Residents expressed their outrage at the closure of the last Barnes & Noble book store in the Bronx last year, and were devastated to learn it would be replaced by a luxury clothing store typically found in Manhattan.
Saks OFF 5th President Jonathan Greller released a statement saying, “We look forward to offering the community convenient access to our extensive assortment of curated designer and luxury fashion labels at sought-after prices.”
