Richard Smith, 32, Arrested For The Murder Of Jean Civilne, 44

On Friday, March 20, 2020, at approximately 1530 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 224 Street and White Plains Road, within the confines of the 47th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old male with sustained trauma about the head, who was struck with a blunt object.

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals / Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased on Friday, April 10, 2020.

Following proper faily notification, the deceased has been identified as follows.

Bronx, NY 10466

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 32-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 1615 hours, within the confines of the 47th Precinct.

Arrested:

Richard Smith
1125 University Avenue
Bronx, NY 10452

Charges:

  • murder;
  • manslaughter;
  • gang assault;
  • assault;
  • criminal possession of marijuana.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
