The Food Bank For New York City has launched the Hurricane Irene Food Stamp Replacement Notice in an effort to help those New Yorkers dependent on food stamps to recoup some of the losses from Hurricane Irene.
The program is open to recipients who lost their food items to flooding, extended power outages or equipment failure. They can reclaim the food stamp benefit value by filing a request form within 10 days of the loss. Additionally, any New Yorkers wishing to donate their unwanted non-perishable food items are encouraged to bring them to their local food pantry.
You can find more information on the Hurricane Irene Food Stamp Replacement Notice by calling the Food Bank For New York City at 212-894-8060 or visiting here to access the Request for Replacement of Food Purchased with Food Stamp Benefits form.
