Pedestrian Sonia Sotomayor, 58, Dead In A Motor Vehicle Collision

On Saturday, November 14, 2020, approximately 1900 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of E. 180th Street and Southern Boulevard within the confines of the 48th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 58-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the head and body.

EMS responded and transported the female to St. Barnabas Hospital,where she was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the intersection above. The vehicle remained on scene.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
