Pedestrian Sidney Sel, 72, Killed In A Hit-And-Run Accident

On Tuesday, November 03, 2020, at approximately 1741 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, struck at the intersection of E. 211st Street and Paulding Avenue, within the confines of the 47th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 72-year-old male pedestrian, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with trauma about the body.

EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to Montefiore North Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the pedestrian was crossing on E. 211st Street from south to north inside of the marked crosswalk.

Vehicle #1, an unknown white four-door sedan, did proceed to make a left turn from south bound Paulding Avenue, striking the pedestrian, knocking him to the pavement.

Vehicle #1 did not stop and fled east bound on East 211 Street.

Vehicle #2, a 2010 Mercedes Benz sedan, operated by a 75-year-old male, also making a left turn from south bound Paulding Avenue, did strike the pedestrian as he was lying on the roadway; the male was dragged on E. 211st Street.

The operator of vehicle #2 remained at the scene and was not injured.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
