NYC Emergency Management Issues Travel Advisory

Due to the chance of snow in the weather forecast, the New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a Winter Operations Advisory for Wednesday, February 10, 2021, starting at 10:00 p.m. Snow is expected beginning late Wednesday evening and continuing through the morning. According to the National Weather Service, 2-3 inches of accumulations are possible. Salt spreaders are ready and will be deployed this evening; plows will be on standby in case of accumulations greater than two inches.

The Department is coordinating with other City agencies on snow clearing protocol in accordance with each agency’s written snow plan. All relevant city agencies have been notified and the Department will continue to monitor forecasts as the snow event approaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for New York City in effect from 10:00 p.m. Wednesday through 10:00 a.m. Thursday. The New York City Emergency Management Department has issued a travel advisory for the Thursday morning commute. The light snow could cause slippery road conditions. New Yorkers are advised use mass transit where possible. Remember to wear a face covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines. If you must drive, exercise caution. Allow for extra travel time.
