Giants QB Ryan Nissab was one of few to speak with reporters for player availability on Tuesday.

Nassib, 24, was drafted by the New York Giants last season (2013) and is now apart of a brand-new offense with new offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo. McAdoo  said last month that he would like a “top four” offense.

“I like it [offense],” Nassib told reporters at the Giants practice facility. “I’m just happy to be out there throwing the ball again.”

Nassib says that the new offense fits his skill level better than a vertical kind of attack that the Giants ran last year.

“It’s more of getting the ball out quick, having a good running game and playing fast,” Nassib said. “I think I’ll do pretty well and something that I fit pretty well into.”

Conversely, over the offseason, the Giants brought in quarterbacks like Josh Freeman and Curtis Painter (Re-signed). However, Nassib does not view the quarterback situation as an issue.

“I don’t really see it as anything,” Nassib said. “It’s the same reason why they bring in guys for other positions. It’s just trying to create competition, make guys better and trying to make guys play at their best at all times.”

With Eli being temporarily injured (ankle surgery), Nassib says that he got a chance to be with him during rehab and says that it will benefit him.

“I’ve gotten a chance to get a few more reps with him, being a little limited,” said Nassib. “It helps me develop, get a little bit of a better feel with receivers and the system as a whole.”

One of the questionable situations that the Giants will address on offense is the backup QB job. The main candidates for that No. 2 role is Ryan Nassib and Josh Freeman, which will likely be a tough competition during OTAs and training camp. Nassib says that securing the backup job is the main priority.

“That’s the goal right now, to secure that backup spot,” Nassib said. “We have a great competition going on in our room. We have some great guys in there. We’re learning, grinding, and helping each other. It is what it is.”
