The efforts of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) frontline workforce began with preparations prior to the snowfall including prepositioning of snow-clearing equipment, chaining articulated buses, salting station platforms and stairs, and will continue through the day and night until regular service is safely restored throughout the entire transportation network.
“I want to give a shout-out to the MTA workforce who came in during this storm,” said MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber. “Extra people worked to make sure we were prepared, and that we could manage through these winter conditions. And a special shout out to the City’s Department of Sanitation as well. Its workers kept the roads clear for the buses, making it possible to provide great service to those who need to get somewhere.”
Metro-North Railroad will be running a regular Sunday schedule tomorrow, January 30, 2022, on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines and on all branches.
The Long Island Rail Road suspended service on all branches at 08:00 a.m. this morning to focus on snow-clearing efforts but expects to resume regularly scheduled service tomorrow, Sunday, January 30, 2022 on all branches beginning at 05:00 a.m., with buses replacing trains east of Ronkonkoma and east of Speonk. Full train service will be restored in time for the Monday morning rush.
