Mother Cabrini High School, in Upper Manhattan, announced a restricted use gift of $1 million from an anonymous donor. The donation is unprecedented in the school’s 112-year history and is earmarked for capital improvements and capacity building.

“This large donation is a tremendous vote of confidence in the school,” said Paula Greco-McTigue ’61, Board Chair. “It speaks highly to the work of everyone at Mother Cabrini High School and is a clear signal of the value of our efforts and the importance of the education we provide.”

Mother Cabrini High School was founded by St. Frances Xavier Cabrini and is sponsored by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  One-hundred percent of our graduates are accepted into colleges and universities. Acceptances include many highly-competitive schools, such as Vassar College where 2011’s Valedictorian is currently attending.

“The generosity of the donor will result in significant educational improvements for building enrollment, academic programs, and alumnae support,” said Bruce Segall, incoming President. “The bedrocks of our future are people best buy for levitra with strong minds, hearts, souls, and characters. This was what Mother Cabrini envisioned for the world, and we are in a great position for fulfilling her dream.”

In addition to the donor’s generosity, a challenge was made to the school and community to raise an equal amount. To date, gifts and pledges have been made by local parishes and many alumnae. Every member of the Board of Trustees has contributed to the match, and the students and faculty are fundraising in appreciation for the wonderful education the school offers.

“The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are proud of the success the school has achieved in providing an excellent education for thousands of young women for over 112 years,” said Sr. Pietrina Raccuglia, MSC, Provincial. “It has not only educated their minds but also their hearts so that they have become strong leaders in their communities. With this legacy and a well-developed curriculum, I believe that this institution has an even greater future.”
