Mia Allison Zuccaro and Oliver Church Merrill were married Saturday evening by Rabbi Sarah Reines at Wave Hill, a public garden and cultural center in Bronx.
Mrs. Merrill, 27, is a candidate for a master’s degree in social work from Columbia, where she is also an administrative associate for the Center for Advanced Information Management in the department of biomedical informatics. She graduated from New York University.
She is a daughter of Sandee Fried Zuccaro of Rye, NY, and Robert A. Zuccaro of Port Chester, NY The bride’s father retired as a partner in Latham & Watkins, a Manhattan law firm.
Until this month, Mr. Merrill, 28, taught history and English to middle school students at the Windward School in White Plains. In September, he will begin teaching ancient history and English at St. Bernard’s School, a private school for boys in Manhattan.
He graduated from Tulane and received a master’s degree in education from New York University.
He is the son of Jacqueline A. Merrill and Paul L. Merrill, both of Manhattan. The groom’s mother is an associate professor of nursing at Columbia, where she is also an associate research scientist in the department of biomedical informatics. His father is a trainer at N.V.C. Boston, a nonprofit that offers classes and workshops in nonviolent communication skills.
The groom is the stepson of Dr. Frederick J. Matzner and a great-grandson of Charles E. Merrill, a co-founder of Merrill Lynch.
