An 18-year-old city boy is on a respirator at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx after he was shot in the face with a handgun, police said earlier today.
Police were questioning two men who fled in a car after the shooting in the second-floor bedroom of 258 E. Fourth St., police Chief Barbara Duncan said.
The shooting happened about 12:35 p.m. Friday. The man was shot in the left side of the head, police said.
It is unclear if the shooting was intentional, Duncan said. At least one family member of the victim told police that the shooting was a suicide attempt, police said. A .380-caliber handgun was found outside the house. Duncan said police will submit the gun for ballistics testing to determine if it was used in the shooting.
