Police in Bronx are searching for a man they say approached a woman on the street to offer a share of some lottery ticket winnings, then burglarized her home when she brought him to her apartment.

Police said the suspect, who appeared to be about 30 years old, approached a 59-year-old woman in the area of Fox Street and Prospect Avenue at about 01:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011. The man told the victim he had a winning lottery ticket and asked her if she’d be interested in splitting it with him.

The victim took the suspect to her apartment, where he took an unknown amount of cash and jewelry before fleeing, police said.

The suspect is now wanted for grand larceny.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit NYPDCrimestoppers.com.
