On Saturday, July 31, 2021, at approximately 0314 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress in the vicinity of 3240 3 Avenue, within the confines of the 42nd Precinct in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a 28-year-old male with gunshot wounds to his back.
EMS also responded to the scene and transported the male to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot by an unknown individual, following a dispute.
The individual fled the scene on foot northbound on 3rd Avenue.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
