Patrick J. O’Sullivan, Jr., a real estate attorney from Brooklyn, will run a twenty-mile tour of the five boroughs on Saturday, July 17, 2021, to raise funds for Catholic Guardian Services, a 134-year-old human services agency.

Mr. O’Sullivan, a board member at the agency, has promised to match every dollar raised up to $21,000, coining the title “20 for 21”: twenty miles to match up to twenty-one thousand in donations.

Mr. O’Sullivan will begin on Staten Island, run through Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, and finish at the CGS Family Counseling & Wellness Center, 1990 Westchester Avenue in the Bronx, one of the Catholic Guardian Services program sites, where he will be greeted by agency employees, fellow board members, and Bronx community stakeholders.

All funds raised will benefit the agency’s Youth Employment Services (YES!) Program, a holistic job-readiness training and mentorship program for youth in foster care to end the unacceptably horrible homelessness, incarceration, substance abuse, and dependency outcomes for so many youth who age out of care.

Said O’Sullivan, “The YES! Program empowers young adults in foster care with the skills they need to enter the workforce with confidence. Running through NYC is my way of saying YES! to helping the next generation of New Yorkers.”

The YES! Program is a crucial component of the Catholic Guardian Services mission to provide help, create hope, and preserve dignity for children and families in need of safeguarding, empowerment, and support to reach their full potential and thrive.

As the agency’s Executive Director, Craig Longley, remarked, “As the oldest Catholic family foster care agency in the nation, Patrick’s run through all five boroughs reminds and encourages us to continue reaching, welcoming, and serving even more children and families in the underserved communities of New York City.”
