A number of Bronx groups are hoping the House of Representatives gives approval to the Violence Against Women Act, which the Senate recently approved.

The bill would provide funding to groups to assist victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking and elder abuse. It would also give assistance to undocumented immigrants who are victims of violence.

“Our own agency, Sanctuary for Families, currently receives funding which helps us to provide services, as do a number of other New York City agencies and we are very hopeful that funding will continue,” says Julie Dinnerstein, of Sanctuary for Families.
