Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Lorelei Salas today issued annual Holiday Shopping Tips to help protect consumers’ identity and money during the holiday season. The tips, which will soon be available in additional languages, include creating a budget and shopping early, and information about consumer rights, how to be a smart shopper and how to avoid common holiday scams.
“We all know the holiday season will look very different this year and, as shoppers, we need to adapt and be smart,” said DCWP Commissioner Lorelei Salas. “I urge New Yorkers to create a realistic budget and stick to it, and do not wait until the last minute to start your shopping—many retailers are expecting shipping delays. Also, support your local businesses but be safe when you do so we can prevent the spread of CoViD-19. I wish all New Yorkers a well-deserved joyous holiday season.”
