Greeting Friends & Neighbors,
Today on National Voter Registration Day, we must remember the importance of civic engagement and the urgency to show up and casts our votes during the upcoming elections.
Two amendments, the Fifteenth and Nineteenth, as well as the Voting Rights Act of 1965 had to be enshrined in our judicial system in order to guarantee the right to vote to the majority of Americans. Let us honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and put everything on the line to ensure that we enjoy of this essential democratic right.
I would like to thank organizations like Make the Road New York, Dominicanos USA, CUNY Citizenship Now, and NALEO among many others, for their continual support and advocacy in getting people registered to vote. At a time where immigrants are being constantly under siege by the federal administration, it has never been more important to head to the polls and demand change from representatives. We must stay united in this time of tribulations and ensure that everyone is registered and accounted for during out City, State and Federal elections.
Sincerely,
Ydanis Rodriguez
