Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted his annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at the Bronx County Building on Thursday, December 4, 2014.
Here, Borough President Diaz distributes $10 Barnes & Noble gift cards to students from the choir of P.S. 1-The Courtlandt School, who performed at the event, which was attended by hundreds of children and their families.
“Rather than give a toy, I felt that this year was a great time to gift the gift of reading, especially since we worked so hard to save our borough’s only bookstore this fall,” said Borough President Diaz.
The choir from the Celia Cruz High School of Music also performed at the event, which also featured an appearance from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
