Graduates in the Practical Nurse program of the Berkeley College School of Health Studies were honored during a pinning ceremony held on April 25, 2017, in Woodland Park, NJ. Reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge, the 29 graduates promised to uphold the integrity of the nursing profession before receiving their honors.
Godson Amevor of central Bronx, NY, received a pin from Berkeley College.
Josiane Hickson, EdD, RN-BC, NE-BC, Chair, Practical Nurse and Patient Care Technician programs, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, gave the welcome address and congratulated the graduates.
“You are the next generation to continue the legacy of the profession of nursing,” Dr. Hickson said. “Nurses need to keep learning, growing and challenging themselves to master something new. Remember that one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself – right here, right now – is to decide, without apology, to commit to the journey of your chosen profession rather than the destination of a job.”
Practical Nurses provide care to their patients in a variety of healthcare environments, including physicians’ offices, clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers and home healthcare settings.
