Global Partnership Schools (GPS) announced today its will provide small group, technology based supplemental educational services (SES) to Bronx public schools for the first time to eligible students in grades K to 8. GPS is an international firm which operates schools around the world.

The NYC BOE determines the eligible schools to receive SES. PS 31 in school district 7 is the first school in the borough to capitalize on GPS’ unique service. The program started on Tuesday 12/6/11.

GPS provides a unique extended school day experience which is technology based program. Every two students are assigned one laptop to use in class supervised by a certified teacher typically recruited from among the school’s own faculty. Students can access the software from their homes as well. The highly trained GPS support staff train the teachers in the use of the nationally acclaimed Voyager software computer program to service a class comprised of no more than 8 students to one teacher twice per week. Extra attention is provided to differentiate the individualized needs of English language learners in a small, collaborative learning environment. Teachers are paid by GPS.

Additionally, Global Partnership Schools offers the popular Kid Talk program. It is a personalized program of discussions to help students connect with skills that build confidence and develop social skills.

Dr. Bob Calderin, Program Administrator and former public school teacher and principal, stated that “no other program provides the level of professionalism and consideration like Global Partnership Schools. GPS can get laptop technology into eligible schools, retain the school’s faculty, and provide the effective Voyager software in a small group setting at no cost to school’s budget. It’s a winner for kids.”

Senior Program Administrator, Hank Iori, another former teacher and public school administrator, reassured that “parents and school leaders will be satisfied with Global Partnership Schools. It is the Cadillac of SES providers.”
