You may be in a GED class and feel that you need help. You are there to get help. And I know you are concerned about passing the GED test. Would it make sense to you to email an authority in GED? You do not wish to fall between the cracks or fall anywhere.

Here are some things to consider about the help you are getting

Which book are you using in class?

Were you given an individualized program by the school or teacher?

How do you know that you have sufficiently mastered any and all skills as you prepare for the date to take the test?

Are you thinking that you should be studying in Spanish if your main language is Spanish)?

Is your instructor almost always actively engaged with you and other students or are you just being handed some work to do?

Have any students been sent to take the GED in your class?

Have you learned material that you know you either forgot or never knew before?

Is the teacher concentrating only on GED material or is the teacher using time for other things such as class trips and things that are not GED related?

Have you had issues that you have brought up to the teacher and to the staff at school?

Now do you think that you might be willing to participate by sending me an email with the thoughts or complaints that you have? Do not write the name of the school or teacher. Just tell me the issues that you have the way students told me in Brooklyn, New York back in 1999. I finally brought things to the attention of New York Newsday which is today one of the leading newspapers in New York. My work has changed since those days and I can make better things happen to you knowing that the GED program did not change after the complaints were made. Back in 1999, I never even thought of taking the complaints to the City Council, but I could do that today.

I want to know more about your classroom situation, but I have helped people for years who were not attending class. In fact just the other day I spoke with a youth from Guyana, South America, who is 19 years old. He has been in the United States for 8 months and a family member is helping him access information about the GED. I think that is great. I pointed out to him that a long time ago in a church someone told me that he had taken and passed the GED in the United States after being here only for 3 days. That was amazing for me to learn. Now get ready and tell me your story. Send me an e-mail.

I have posted important information for families and individuals on my website here.

Martin Danenberg was a teacher on the Lower East Side of New York and then became a G.E.D. teacher until he retired in 2000. His work is now more known than ever as he has reached out to people in politics and beyond. His ideas about helping American recently surfaced in the Election of 2020 as Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden spoke out to help people with education.
