Touchstone Health, a New York-based Medicare Advantage company, has introduced diverse programs that promote healthy living, social interaction and educational benefits to senior centers in Bronx.
These events are open to members of the senior centers as well as to members of Touchstone Health HMO.
Based on growing demand, Touchstone Health is expanding its services to meet the lifestyle and health care needs of local seniors by offering a broader range of community events and activities, including Wii bowling, dancing, and billiards.
Touchstone Health is also dedicated to modernizing and enriching their lives by offering seniors computer training classes, during which Touchstone Health community representatives teach basic computer skills, play BrainGames by Lumosity for mental fitness and introduce social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
The goal of this outreach is to promote the health benefits of an active lifestyle, and offer seniors an opportunity to socialize with friends and interact with members of their community.
“Senior citizens can minimize cognitive impairments by having an active lifestyle – mentally, socially and physically. Touchstone Health recognizes that overall good health is achieved through a combination of these positive characteristics,” says Touchstone Health Chief Medical Officer, Mitchell S. Strand, MD. “Our community health and wellness programs encourage seniors to engage in social and recreational activities that benefit the body and the mind.”
