On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at approximately 2123 hours, officers on patrol encountered an aided male, on fire, at the intersection of Schenectady Avenue and Rutland Road, within the confines of the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn.
The officers rendered aid and doused the flames utilizing a fire extinguisher from their department vehicle.
EMS responded to the location and transported the aided 46-year-old male victim to Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Further investigation revealed the male was encountered by another adult male in the vicinity of the incident location. The male began to argue with the victim before setting the victim on fire, using an accelerant in the course of doing so.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 28-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 1240 hours, within the confines of the 71st Precinct.
