Diquinn Lacend, 29, Arrested For The Murder Of James Thrower, 31

On Friday, July 15, 2022, at approximately 2355 hours, police responded to a ShotSpotter activation at the corner of E. 162nd Street and Teller Avenue, within the confines of the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 31-year-old male in front of 907 Teller Avenue, unconscious and unresponsive, with gunshot wounds to his torso.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where he was pronounced deceased.

It was reported to police that victim was approached by an unknown individual, who engaged him in a verbal dispute.

The individual proceeded to display and discharge a firearm at the victim multiple times, striking the victim multiple times about the body.

The individual fled the location eastbound on E. 161st Street.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 31-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged in regard to the above-listed incident.

Charges:

  • murder;
  • manslaughter;
  • criminal possession of a weapon (2 counts).

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
