A New York City couple is recovering after their car plunged off the Bruckner Expressway and landed on a service road below.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday in Bronx.
Authorities say the driver lost control of his vehicle on the elevated roadway, flew over the barrier and onto the road below.
Police say Carlos Broadbelt and his wife, Raquel, had to be pulled out of the crushed car. Miraculously, they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The couple’s relatives say Broadbelt was trying to avoid a pothole when the accident occurred.
