Cops on the hunt for an Englewood woman who allegedly assaulted and abused her elderly mother-in-law last month ended their search Monday when she was arrested in Bronx, Detective Capt. Tim Torell told the press.

Police believed Mary Tene, 54, had been hiding out in the New Jersey-New York area following the September 11, 2013 incident where she allegedly beat her 82-year-old mother-in-law, causing head trauma and knocking out several of the elderly woman’s teeth.

Following up on a number of leads, Englewood Detectives Chris Kedersha and Carlos Marte teamed up with officers from the 48th Precinct in Bronx and arrested Tene on Monday as she was exiting an Adams Place tenement, said Torell.

“She literally walked right into their arms as they approached her building. Tene had cut and dyed her hair and tried to pass herself off as a cousin of hers,” Torell said in a statement.

Tene was charged at the 48th Precinct as a fugitive from justice and will be taken to a larger holding facility pending extradition back to New Jersey, Torell said.
