On Thursday, June 11, 2020, at approximately 0135 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of Bronx River Parkway and East Gun Hill Road, within the confines of the 47th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified male operator of a 2019 Dodge Challenger, unconscious and unresponsive. An unidentified adult male pedestrian was also discovered, unconscious and unresponsive and lying on the roadway, in close proximity to the vehicle.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced the operator of the vehicle deceased at the scene.

The pedestrian sustained severe trauma to his body and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined vehicle operator was traveling northbound on the Bronx River Parkway at a high rate of speed when he failed to properly navigate the roadway as he was exiting the off ramp, and struck the unidentified pedestrian, before careening into a concrete wall, causing the vehicle to erupt into flames.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
