You have heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” well now doctors in the Bronx hope a book a visit will encourage pediatric patients to keep reading.

Pediatricians at St. Barnabas Hospital say they have adopted a new nationwide program called “Reach Out and Read.”

The program works by giving a patient child a book each time they visit the doctor’s office.
