On Monday, August 05, 2019, at approximately 0454 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision on the Grand Concourse, near E. 192nd Street, within the confines of the 52nd Precinct in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 52-year-old female pedestrian, lying on the roadway with trauma about the body.
EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the female was crossing the Grand Concourse from East to west at E. 192nd Street against the Pedestrian Don’t Walk Signal, when she was struck by a 2005 Acura RL, operated by a 52-year-old male, which was traveling southbound on the Grand Concourse at the location.
The operator of the vehicle remained on the scene and was taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
