A Bronx Zoo artist will tell what it is like creating natural-looking settings for animals when the Village of Mamaroneck Arts Council’s 2017 lecture series begins.

Artist Carolyn Fuchs, a member of the zoo’s Exhibit Shop, will speak at 3:00 p.m. February 12, 2017 at the Mamaroneck Public Library, 136 Prospect Avenue.

Fuchs, a Hastings-on-Hudson resident, is a visual artist, designer and fabricator. The team she is a member of created the settings the animals live in at the world-famous zoo.

“We all know many artists who create their works for people to enjoy, but Ms. Fuchs brings a whole different perspective,” said Solange DeSantis, chairwoman of the Arts Council. “Her work needs to be more than pleasing to the human eye; it needs to make many different animals housed at the zoo feel at home.”

The monthly lecture series, which continues into the spring, is part of the Council’s Arts Live initiative established to expose the public to more art and education about the artistic life.
