Bronx Trio Charged With Theft, Credit Card Fraud

Shelton, CT police arrested three women from Bronx Tuesday evening after they said the women used phony credit cards to buy merchandise at TJ Maxx.

Officers responded to the store about 05:00 p.m., Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said in a press release, on a report of fraudulent credit card use.

When they arrived at the store at 865 Bridgeport Avenue, Kozlowsky said, they saw three women go to the register and purchase around $530 worth of items with two fraudulent credit cards.

After all three women left the store, Kozlowsky said police initiated a motor vehicle stop, identified the three women and two minor children in the vehicle, and recovered all the merchandise.

Arrested were Evelyn Arias, 30, Glenny Rosado, 28, and Erika Vargas, 25.

Arias and Rosado were charged with sixth-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card, credit card theft, receiving goods obtained by illegal use of a credit card, and risk of injury to a minor.

Vargas was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card, conspiracy to commit credit card theft, conspiracy to commit receiving goods obtained by illegal use of a credit card, and risk of injury to a minor.

All three women posted $25,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby March 20, 2012.
