Josef Goodman is a student at Bronx High School of Science and a member of Hebrew Institute of Riverdale; Seth Teleky also attends the Bronx High School of Science and a member of Hollis Hills Jewish Center.

Prozdor, meaning corridor, is an active and vibrant Jewish high school program for students who are committed to discovering their own personal and communal meaning of being Jewish. Students graduate with a strong knowledge of Judaism and have the framework to continue to live and learn as Jews with confidence in college and beyond. As a program of the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education of JTS, students had the unique opportunity to study with JTS faculty and students in the rabbinical, cantorial, and graduate schools, an experience not generally available to high school students.

“We get kids who are committed, who want to be challenged by their Judaic studies,” says principal Bess Adler. “What students find here is just as deep, challenging, and rich as anything in their secular educations. Our students come to debate and have their own voices, which next year they will be taking with them to such colleges as American University, Brandeis, Yale, Cornell, NYU, and SUNYs Plattsburgh and Binghamton.”

Students come to Prozdor from a variety of Jewish educational backgrounds and learning styles, and their families practice a range of religious observance. Respect for all opinions in the classroom, the broader Jewish community, and other communities, along with the freedom to explore new ideas, is the norm.

Ivry Prozdor students all meet on Sunday mornings at JTS. Students interested in honors credit learn on weeknights as well, in satellite locations in New Jersey, at JTS, and through the Ivry Prozdor distance learning option (online).
