This Saturday, January 9th, Mercy Center, a community resource of the South Bronx, will launch a yearlong celebration commemorating it’s 20th Year of serving the Mott Haven community and beyond.
A series of events will be held throughout the year, to celebrate the accomplishments of Mercy Center’s participants, staff and volunteers. These events will also highlight the strength and resilience of our community, the heritage of our participants, and the generosity of our supporters.
Join us this Saturday, January 9th, from noon to 3pm to launch our 20th Year celebration. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Mercy Center’s programs, to see a performance by the Mercy Center Chorus, and to join in the excitement of this momentous occasion. Mercy Center is located at 377 East 145th Street, between Third and Willis Avenues in the South Bronx.
In September 1990, two women from the South Bronx and a certified counselor saw a need and worked to fill it. Women in this community needed a place to come together, to learn life skills, and to tap into their inner strength. With this simple mission, these women founded Mercy Center, using a part of a classroom in a local school. In the ensuing 20 years, this simple idea has grown into the vibrant, life-changing organization that is Mercy Center.
