Open to professional and avocational writers of all ages and abilities, the Bronx Memoir Project offers free, professionally-led memoir writing workshops across Bronx.

Aligned with BCA’s mission to elevate local narratives and stories, the Bronx Memoir Project helps amplify local voices through an array of writing tools, along with the professional development needed for writers to publish on their own.

The memoir-writing workshops culminate with the publication of selected works by workshop attendees in the latest volume of our ongoing Bronx Memoir Project anthology series.

Our spectacular 2018-2019 has come to a close. We thank the more than 100 participants and 11 teaching artists who joined us, as well as our Project Coordinator Crystal Valentine, and the Poe Park Visitor Center, BronxArtSpace, and the NYPL branches of Kingsbridge and Mott Haven for generously hosting the workshops. This meaningful program, which preserves the stories of a diverse range of Bronx residents, is made possible in part by support from The National Endowment for the Arts.
